Cardio: How does it work?
Exercise at medium intensity increases the oxygen content in your blood. That is when your body starts to produce LPL, which breaks down fats into fatty acids.
These fatty acids enter the bloodstream and eventually end up in the muscle tissue. That is where the cells absorb the fatty acids, break down the acids and make release energy.
If you regularly do cardio exercises, the amount of LPL in your body increases. This makes your body more capable of breaking down fats.
Disadvantages of cardio
Injuries can occur with every sports activity. There is only one important factor when it comes to cardio exercise: too much training is not good. If you train too much, you risk breaking down muscles and reducing the muscle mass and power.
If you have a bad diet, your body could be breaking down proteins in your muscles to make them energy-free. In any case, take enough protein before your cardio.
Food and cardio
Sugars should not be eaten before and during the cardio. Food or sports drinks with an extremely high carbohydrate content (like Aquarius, AA-drink, Dextro or others) should be definitely avoided. You can always drink water.
